Frequently Asked Questions

Membership

Q: What does a Pacific Archery Academy membership include?
A: Membership provides access to our weekly outdoor range sessions, invitations to club competitions and member-only events, and liability insurance coverage during sanctioned club activities. Formal coaching is not included.

Q: Does Pacific Archery Academy membership include BC Archery or Archery Canada membership?
A: No. Memberships with BC Archery and Archery Canada must be purchased separately and is required to be a member with Pacific Archery Academy..

 

Q: Who can join the club?
A: We welcome archers of all levels, ages 8 and up. We offer membership options for youth, students, adults, and families.

Q: What is the minimum age to participate?
A: Members must be at least 8 years old. Archers aged 8–12 must be accompanied by a supervising adult during club sessions.

Range & Sessions

Q: Where are range sessions held?
A: Our outdoor sessions take place at the W̱SÁNEĆ School field, 7449 West Saanich Rd.

Q: How do I know when sessions are happening?
A: Club shooting times are posted in our online calendar. Be sure to check regularly for updates or changes.

 

Q: What happens in poor weather?
A: Sessions may be canceled or rescheduled due to weather or field availability. Notices will be posted in advance whenever possible.

 

Equipment

Q: Is equipment provided?
A: Yes, rental equipment is available for $10 per session. However, members are encouraged to transition to their own gear after an introductory period.

Q: Can I store my personal equipment at the range?
A: No, at this time we do not offer storage at the range. Members are responsible for bringing and taking home their own gear.

 

Getting Started

Q: Do I need experience to join?
A: All members must meet a minimum experience requirement. This can be fulfilled by completing:

  • Formal archery lessons

  • A Pacific Archery Academy school program

  • A range orientation session with our club

 

Q: How do I schedule an orientation?
A: You can request an orientation through our contact form or by emailing us at info@pacificarcherybc.com.

 

Q: Do you offer lessons or coaching?
A: While lessons are not included with membership, we offer separate instructional programs. Please visit our website for class listings.

 

Stand-By Training Access

Q: What is Stand-By Training Access?
A: Stand-By Training Access allows certain eligible Pacific Archery Academy athletes to attend an additional appropriate class at no extra charge when space is available and coach approval is given in advance.

 

Q: Who is eligible for Stand-By Training Access?
A: To be eligible, an archer must be a current Pacific Archery Academy club member, be registered in two Pacific Archery Academy programs, and be actively training. Attendance must also be approved in advance.

 

Q:Can I just show up for a stand-by class?
A:No. Athletes must notify Pacific Archery Academy before arriving. Stand-by attendance must be approved in advance and is subject to available space.

Q: Is stand-by access guaranteed?
A: No. Registered participants always have priority, and stand-by attendance depends on space, safety, and coach discretion.

 

Insurance & Safety

Q: Am I insured while shooting?
A: Yes. All members are covered by liability insurance during sanctioned Pacific Archery Academy activities provided through BC Archery and Archery Canada for registered members.

 

Q: What safety rules should I be aware of?
A: Members are expected to follow all club and range safety protocols. A full set of range rules is provided at orientation and available on our website.
